Solar carports!

eastern air flow ky solar carport
The great advantage of solar carports and solar patio covers is that they don’t require additional land the way ground mount does. As a result, solar panel carports offer a more efficient use of space than ground-mounted panels.
While a typical carport or patio cover provides shading and is undoubtedly a value-add for a home or automobile owner, its one-dimensional simplicity is a missed opportunity. We serve the cities and areas around Paintsville, Pikeville, Lexington, Georgetown, Richmond, Prestonsburg, Louisa, Belfry, Ashland, Hazard, Winchester, and Inez.
If you are concerned about efficient use of space, you should consider a solar carport over a ground-mounted system. Overall, solar panel carports have less restraints or conflicts than ground-mounted solar and can be considered preferable under many circumstances.
How does a solar carport compare to a rooftop solar panel installation?
As with ground mount solar, it is often assumed that versatile solutions like solar carports and ground mount are only meant for homeowners who did not qualify for rooftop solar panels. However, the reality is that these alternative options can often make more sense for homeowners due to a number of factors.
Issues with roof angle, orientation and size are eliminated with a carport because the panels will serve as the “roof” of the structure, and the supporting metal poles can be situated as necessary once the optimal array size and angle is determined. With rooftop solar, homeowners often run into issues installing a big enough system because they may not have suitable roof area. Space constraints are eliminated with ground mount solar and are rare with solar canopies and carports.

Energy Audit Services in Kentucky!
Often we find that in the field of heating and cooling, our services often overlap and interact with other aspects of a home. Living in Kentucky, a state that experiences all four seasons, makes us more energy conscious than other states. It is our goal to help you lower your utility bills by as much as possible. We serve the cities and areas around Paintsville, Pikeville, Lexington, Georgetown, Richmond, Prestonsburg, Louisa, Belfry, Ashland, Hazard, Winchester, and Inez. Many people purchase new heating and cooling systems based upon their efficiencies and savings they may provide on their utility bills. However what many people simply overlook is the other aspects of a home that costs money daily.

With a home energy audit from us, you can expect a detailed report at the end of your visit with our technician to explain his findings to you. Some of the things we check for include your homes insulation, water heater, heating and cooling system, lighting, windows, just to name a few things. We also have a state of the art thermal imaging camera, which is great for identifying "energy leaks" within your home. With that camera we can show you where your home is leaking energy and more importantly, money. Contact us today to begin making improvements to your home and to help save on your utility bill! Energy and money saving tips for the winter!

Eastern Air Flow of Ky Money saving tips
Here at Eastern Air Flow of Kentucky we are all about helping you save money, so here are some helpful tips for this winter to help cut down on your power bill!
We currently serve in and around the following cities in Kentucky; Richmond, Campton, Salyersville, Pikeville, Hazard, Ashland, Lexington, Prestonsburg, and Paintsville.
  • Turn your thermostat down to 68 to 70 degrees. For every degree you lower your heat in the 60-degree to 70-degree range, you'll save up to 5 percent on heating costs
  •  Replace or clean furnace filters as recommended. Dirty filters will restrict airflow and increase energy use. Now is also the time for a furnace "tune-up." Keeping your furnace clean, lubricated and properly adjusted will reduce energy use, saving up to 5 percent of heating costs.
  •  Reduce hot water temperature. Set your water heater to the "normal" setting or 120-degrees Fahrenheit, unless the owner's manual for your dishwasher requires a higher setting. Savings are 7-11 percent of water heating costs.
  • Seal up as much as you can. You can a start by caulking leaks around windows and doors. Look for places where you have pipes, vents or electrical conduits that go through the wall, ceiling or floor. You can check the bathroom, underneath the kitchen sink, pipes inside a closet, etc. If you find a gap at the point where the pipe or vents goes through the wall, seal it up. Caulk works best on small gaps. Your hardware store should have products to close the larger gaps.
  •  If you have rooms that aren’t in use, shutting off the vents on those rooms and shutting the door can help with the time and energy it takes to heat up your home or office.
  •  Adjust your door thresholds. If you can see outdoor light under your door you're letting out the indoor air you've paid to heat. If the door is not in contact with the threshold, the air is going right under the door. Some thresholds have 4-5 screws that let you adjust the height and close the gap. Turn the screws counterclockwise to lift the threshold until the outside light is mostly gone. A little light in the corners is okay, but don't raise the threshold so high that it interferes with opening and closing the door. The door should not drag on the threshold or it'll wear out the weather strips.
  •  The downside to fireplaces is that when they're not in use, your warm indoor air is escaping through chimney. Even when the chimney flue is closed, some warm air is probably still getting away. An easy solution is to block the airflow with an inflatable chimney balloon.
  • Unplug your electronics. When you keep electronics plugged in and on stand by, you're wasting almost 10% of your residential electricity.
