new heating and cooling system for families in need

Imagine a three year old child in diapers complaining to their parents how cold they are in their home during the cold winter months. Imagine the feeling the parents would have knowing they are providing their family with all of the heat they can afford to give. That is the reason for this fundraiser. All too often have I seen situations such as these occur and I am ready to make a difference. Some of the families we help may not even have heating systems, while others may depend on dangerous kerosene heaters which have noxious odors that can cause breathing issues for some. Some families have very old inefficient heating systems that may cost upwards of $800.00 per month to operate on their electric bill. Imagine getting an $800 to $1000 electric bill when it’s below freezing and having to choose between buying life saving medication and paying the electric bill.

Give the gift of comfort & allow us to provide new heating & air conditioning systems to families that are in need! The proceeds of this fundraiser will be given to Eastern Air Flow of Kentucky LLC so that they may use it to provide heating and air conditioning services to families in need. In the past we have tried to help families through our in-house finance program, free unit give-aways, and rebate programs. Unfortunately, the reach of these programs was limited and left out those families who needed these services the most. After much thought and prayer we figured that with the power of the internet, generous donations from individuals such as yourself, and the power of gofundme that we could impact many more lives in a very positive way than what we could have achieved in the past. We will install as many new heating and air conditioning systems as possible to help families in need with your generous donation. We need you to share and help make this campaign a success as soon as possible so that we can begin helping families in need as soon as possible. Please remember that we will begin installing new heating and air conditioning systems every-time enough money is generated to do so within the gofundme campaign.

We will accept nominations in the form of video submissions to pick the lucky winners that will have new heating and air conditioning systems installed.  We will also do some HVAC repair work for homeowners in need with the funds that we receive from this campaign. We plan to partner with local churches and organizations to ensure that we are choosing the families who will truly appreciate this gift from God. We will distribute before and after videos so that you may see your very real impact upon someones life.

energy and money saving tips for the winter

  •  Turn your thermostat down to 68 to 70 degrees. For every degree you lower your heat in the 60-degree to 70-degree range, you'll save up to 5 percent on heating costs
  •  Replace or clean furnace filters as recommended. Dirty filters will restrict airflow and increase energy use. Now is also the time for a furnace "tune-up." Keeping your furnace clean, lubricated and properly adjusted will reduce energy use, saving up to 5 percent of heating costs.
  •  Reduce hot water temperature. Set your water heater to the "normal" setting or 120-degrees Fahrenheit, unless the owner's manual for your dishwasher requires a higher setting. Savings are 7-11 percent of water heating costs.
  • Seal up as much as you can. You can a start by caulking leaks around windows and doors. Look for places where you have pipes, vents or electrical conduits that go through the wall, ceiling or floor. You can check the bathroom, underneath the kitchen sink, pipes inside a closet, etc. If you find a gap at the point where the pipe or vents goes through the wall, seal it up. Caulk works best on small gaps. Your hardware store should have products to close the larger gaps.
  •  If you have rooms that aren’t in use, shutting off the vents on those rooms and shutting the door can help with the time and energy it takes to heat up your home or office.
  •  Adjust your door thresholds. If you can see outdoor light under your door you're letting out the indoor air you've paid to heat. If the door is not in contact with the threshold, the air is going right under the door. Some thresholds have 4-5 screws that let you adjust the height and close the gap. Turn the screws counterclockwise to lift the threshold until the outside light is mostly gone. A little light in the corners is okay, but don't raise the threshold so high that it interferes with opening and closing the door. The door should not drag on the threshold or it'll wear out the weather strips.
  •  The downside to fireplaces is that when they're not in use, your warm indoor air is escaping through chimney. Even when the chimney flue is closed, some warm air is probably still getting away. An easy solution is to block the airflow with an inflatable chimney balloon.
  • Unplug your electronics. When you keep electronics plugged in and on stand by, you're wasting almost 10% of your residential electricity.
